Jason and I are scouring the city today for his shoes. yes, the shoes he will don at our wedding in merely four days time. he’s digging the worn-in vintage look of these limited edition (of course) leather Vans. unfortunetely they were only produced for the Tokyo market. the challange will be finding the right shoe/sneaker to compliment his modern navy tux but still work on a sandy beach.
I can’t help but notice that the messy but nice bun is here in a big way. I like the innocence of this look, captured by the very cool Maya at Turnedout.tv.
because wedding hair shouldn’t look like wedding hair.
I had my final gown fitting today, and no, this isn’t the dress! but how incredible is the back of this one? J.Crew’s apt description reads, “a sublime mix of vintage romance and haute couture”. it hit me (while standing before a full-length mirror at the bridal boutique) that I may need to adorn my bare neckline. but where will I find the necklace in less than two weeks time? once again, I will turn to J.Crew’s wedding shop for inspiration.
from the onset, I brushed off the notion of table assignments and place cards deeming them too formal but now that I’ve put myself in the [fancy] shoes of my attendants, I’ve realized just how necessary designated seating can be. we want our friends and family to feel comfortable and welcome to mingle with new faces. this is a clever way to mark each table but it may be too much work for our tight deadline!
brilliant table number idea for this library themed wedding.
I am beginning to feel the sartorial effects of HBOs Boardwalk Empire. it was certainly an era of glamour and finery for both men and women. take this photo for instance: the impeccable detailing in his suit, the bride’s delicate hand in glove, the attendants lining the stairs. I’ve yet to see a modern man in a morning jacket with a top hat to complete the look. one can only dream…
I’ve always liked the idea of indulging in a fine selection of cheeses for dessert. unlike most, when given the option, I will go for savory over sweet any day. Jason and I tend to spend far too long in the cheese section of any gourmet market— one of our most desired time-killers. we may opt to include a few of our favorite cheeses on the dessert table along with some chocolate-covered figs and grapes. I like Rita’s approach to labeling cheese: straight-forward and unpretentious. another gem I stumbled upon on Etsy. find more of her cool home accessories with a nautical flare via Beach House Living.
